Sample Quilt-a-thon
I've been burning the midnight oil trying to get my samples for the classes I'm teaching over at The Quilted Cactus in the next few months. We had a lovely "meet the teachers" open house on Sunday afternoon, and I couldn't believe the turn out! The place was packed. I'm very hopeful that it means there will be enough interest to hold all of my classes. They still don't have their web site fully functioning, and the class schedule is missing some things, but I'm sure everything will come together soon.
I'll be doing an interesting Block of the Month starting in February (no photos yet, but hopefully one soon), and one of my favorite classes, Double Wedding Ring. Here is the little sample I put together.
I wanted to use fabrics from the shop, so I used some fun batiks for this one. This class is being held the last two Tuesday evenings in February.
I'm also trying to get the hand quilting done on my Lone Star sample, which is being held the last two Tuesdays in March. I can't believe how long it's taking me to get this done! I guess I'm going to have to face the fact that this might be my last hand quilted item, unless we find the miracle arthritis medication. Oh well.
Originally, I wasn't going to need to make samples from the Block of the Month because they had a sample from the fabric supplier. But, the fabric supplier needed it back - so I'm trying to whip those babies up. I've got four done - 8 to go. My goal is to get them done by this weekend so the shop can send the finished top out to get machine quilted. It's an interesting combination of fabrics, so far from what I would have ever chosen, but as I'm working with them, it's kind of growing on me. The fabrics look like reproduction 1890's prints. I don't know if that's what they are supposed to be, but that's what it reminds me of. Pictures to come.

Go Mom! Nothing like going full circle. (get it?) So, uh, my 15th wedding anniversary is in 3 weeks...when do I get my quilt???
