When I got a call from my friend Beth, asking me if I was okay (I hadn't updated my blog in so long, and I hadn't attended any quilt group meetings) I knew it was time to get myself back on track! It's been a long (lonely) summer so far, with little weekend getaways to break up the monotony - not much to blog about! Andy's still working out of town, so Ruby and I hold down the fort. With Andy gone during the week, I find myself working longer hours, just to fill the time. Not much of a creative streak going on right now... But, I did have a wonderful Memorial Weekend trip to Seattle with Cori and Lindsey. A girl's trip! It was great spending the time with Heather, but it went by in a blink.
For our anniversary, Andy and I drove up to Greer, AZ. He had never been, and it's been several years for me. Cori and her kids and friends were camping nearby, so we dropped in on them. Lindsey ended up spending our anniversary with us. She didn't like being so dirty, and unable to shower, etc., so we took her back to the cabin with us.
Greer is such a nice area. I'm sure we will go back again.
The following weekend was 4th of July, and Andy and I were invited to join Cori's family at the Country Club for their annual party. They had a cabana with a perfect view of the fireworks. We even used a few patriotic quilts to decorate our space!
And of course, the grand finale - the fireworks!
The third weekend in July always finds Andy and my brother Doug up in Prescott for the Out House Open. That's a golf tournament that just celebrated it's 48th year. This year, I tagged along - any excuse to get out of the heat! For the first time, we stayed at the Hassayampa Inn. A lovely old hotel in downtown Prescott.
I never know what to expect when staying in an older hotel. Sometimes the rooms are tiny, and not very nice, but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely time, and it was so great being able to just step outside and walk around Prescott while the guys were playing golf for two days.
As far as my creativity - well I do have one little project under way, but not too exciting. Maybe now I'll get the bug to make something special!
