This fun quilt was my most recent quilting project. I needed an extra throw for our guest room, and I wanted to introduce a little bit of the red tones in an otherwise pastel room. I've been having fun making yo yo's out of some of the scraps, so I threw them on the border.
To add a little whimsey to the quilt, and to give the yo yo's a little more substance, I embroidered some meandering stems.
I had this quilt machine quilted by a fabulous quilter, Ellen Ridge. She captured the perfect look for this project. Thank you, Ellen!
To avoid the boredom of just a straigh edge with the yo yo's plopped on it, I added a little variance with a modified scallop. I think it brings a little more balance and attention to the borders, since the actual pieced part of the quilt is just a very basic pattern. This was a really fun, fast project. Perfect for my inability to stay focused on one project for too long!
This wall quilt is a sample for a class I'll be teaching at the Quilted Cactus. The class focuses on foundation piecing and curved piecing techniques.
I made this quilt using fabric from French General's new release of fabrics by Moda. We were given a "charm" pack of the collection while in France
This "Nickel Quilt" was from scrap fabric I've had for over 20 years, along with some current bright fabric to liven things up.
